Our Pack's modern story is one of determination and the unwavering spirit of those who refused to let Scouting fade away in our community. Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, we restarted this Pack in 2022 with no funding, no assets, and - most importantly - no Cub Scouts.
What we did have was a small group of passionate parent volunteers who believed in the power of Scouting and were willing to give their time, talents, and hearts to rebuild something special for the families of Comstock, Ogle, and Elliot Elementary Schools + Wortham Intermediate School.
Today, because of those dedicated individuals and the families who have joined since, our Pack thrives. They are the ones who set up camp in the rain, cheer the loudest at the Pinewood Derby, and ensure every Scout feels the excitement of discovery and the warmth of belonging. They are the foundation of our Pack, the reason we continue to grow, and the heart of everything we do.

A Glimpse Into Our Year of Adventure
We believe in a well-planned, year-round program that keeps our Scouts engaged, learning, and having fun. While every year is a little different, here are some of the hallmark events that our families look forward to:
Fall & Spring Family Campouts: We head to local scout camps for weekends of tent camping, campfires, outdoor skills, and unforgettable family memories.
Pinewood Derby: A highlight of the year! Scouts design, build, and race their own custom cars in this classic, high-energy competition.
Community Service: From food drives to local clean-up projects, we teach our Scouts the importance of giving back to our McKinney community.
Blue & Gold Banquet: Our annual tradition to celebrate the birthday of Scouting with a special dinner, awards, and entertainment for the whole family.
Themed Pack Meetings: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Winter Holidays all get special treatment at our Pack meetings, and the whole family is invited!

Meet Our Volunteer Leaders: The Heart of Our Pack
Our Pack is 100% volunteer-run by parents just like you. These leaders dedicate their time to create a safe, fun, and enriching program for every child. We are a team, and we couldn't do it without them!
Amir has a son in the Pack and, as our Cubmaster, provides leadership for the Pack by planning and leading monthly Pack meetings, supporting Den Leaders, coordinating Pack activities, and ensuring every Cub Scout has a fun, engaging, and meaningful Scouting experience.
Amir first served the Pack as a Den Leader and continues to share the Scouting journey alongside his son, who is currently a Cub Scout. Over his years of volunteer service, Amir’s exceptional dedication to youth and the community has been recognized with the Polaris Award, the District Award of Merit, and the Lifetime Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
Scouting has been a guiding force throughout Amir Rupshi’s life. A lifelong Scout and Scouter with more than 27 years of experience in Scouting America, he has served as a Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Treasurer, High Adventure Coordinator, Den Leader, and Cubmaster. Amir has completed Wood Badge and Powder Horn training and has served on staff for both Wood Badge and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), helping develop the next generation of youth and adult leaders.
As Cubmaster, Amir is committed to creating an inclusive, fun, and values-driven program where every Scout has the opportunity to learn new skills, build lasting friendships, grow in confidence, and live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Rachel Cahill
Committee Chair & Assistant Cubmaster
Rachel is a founding member of our Pack with her youngest son and she also has two Eagle Scouts, son and daughter, who have completed the entire Scouting journey from Pack to Troop.
Rachel leads our Pack Committee, the parent volunteers who handle the planning, administration, and finances that make our program possible. She ensures our Pack is well-organized and has the resources needed for a great year and is a mentor to our committee members and leaders.
With over 15 years as a leader in Scouting, she has served in the roles of Den Leader, Pack Commitee Chair, Cubmaster of two Packs, Training Coordinator, Troop Advancement Chair, and Troop Committee Chair for two Troops, founded a Troop for girls in 2019 and is a Merit Badge Counselor for many Scouts BSA Troop badges. She's even run District Cub Camps for over 900 attendees!
Rachel grew up in a scouting family. She was in Girl Scouts. Her mother was in Girl Scouts through college. Her father was in Scouts right here in Circle 10! Both of her brothers are Eagle Scouts and her father served in many District and Council leadership roles.
She is passionate about creating a fun and welcoming environment where every Scout can do their best and feel proud!

Den Leaders
If the Cubmaster is the master of ceremonies for the Pack, our Den Leaders are the heart of the adventure. These dedicated parent volunteers lead small, grade-level groups and get a front-row seat to the magic of Scouting. Being a Den Leader isn't about being an expert; it's about guiding curiosity and creating a supportive space for kids to grow. It is one of the most rewarding roles in Scouting, and our Pack thrives because of parents who step up to be these incredible mentors.

Nick is a former Scout himself, he brings a lot of enthusiasm for the program and helps his den stay creative. He's here with his son. Joe is a former Marine and an active father in our pack with a lot of skills to share with our Scouts. He's also our Camping Coordinator.

A professional bookkeeper and active community volunteer, Joy manages Pack 970’s accounting, budgeting, and Scout accounts. As a mother of both a Cub Scout in our Pack and a Girl Scout, Joy brings invaluable organizational expertise to ensure our finances are transparent, balanced, and focused on funding great youth adventures.

Fundraising Coordinator: Scott Scarborough
Scott oversees Pack 970’s fundraising campaigns, including our annual Trail’s End Popcorn sale and the Acts of Kindness service initiative. With two older children active in Scouts BSA troops and a daughter in the Pack, Scott understands how well-run fundraisers keep baseline dues affordable and empower Scouts to earn their own way.

A retired Marine, avid outdoorsman, and father of two Scouts in the pack, Joe coordinates Pack 970’s family camping weekends and outdoor adventures. He focuses on planning safe, well-organized, and beginner-friendly campouts that build confidence in our youth and create lasting memories for our families.

The Quartermaster keeps Pack 970 adventure-ready by tracking our shared camping gear, event canopies, Pinewood Derby tracks, and managing our Pack storage unit. This is an ideal, flexible behind-the-scenes role for an organized parent who wants to support the pack without running youth meetings.

Committee Members are dedicated parents who serve on the Pack Committee without holding a single designated coordinator title. They provide essential leadership, operational advice, and hands-on event support to ensure our Pack runs smoothly behind the scenes. Every Committee Member is an officially registered adult member of Scouting America and has completed both Safeguarding Youth Training and official Committee Member Position-Specific Training.
