RACE RESULTS BELOW
On behalf of the Pack Committee, we want to say how proud we are of every Scout and family who participated in this year’s Pinewood Derby. The creativity, patience, teamwork, and hard work that went into building these cars was obvious, and it made for a great day of racing.
We hope everyone had fun and had the chance to practice good sportsmanship, cheering for others, following the rules, and handling both wins and close finishes with a positive attitude. Those values are a big part of the Race Time adventure, along with learning how a race works, preparing a vehicle, and participating the right way. Our Scouts did a great job living that out.
The races were incredibly close. As you can see from the race times, many of the cars were separated by literal fractions of a second. Every run mattered, and the competition stayed tight from start to finish.
Congratulations to our top five finishers:
Nikolas Z.
Grayson M.
Ananda B.
Alyse R.
Sterling A.
These Scouts are automatically eligible to attend the Iron Horse District Pinewood Derby. Check-in will be on March 6, with racing on March 7 at Stonebriar Mall, exact location and times will be shared once finalized. (Probably racing will be around 11 AM)
Our Pack’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers will race in the District Finals. Our 4th and 5th place finishers will attend as alternates if any of the top three are unable to participate. If all top three attend, 4th and 5th place will be entered into the District Open Race. The Open Race is also available to any Scout or outlaw car for a $7 entry fee per car.
Also congratulations to our creative and design winners from the audience voting.
Bryson - 1st place most creative

Vijay - 1st place best build
Liam - 2nd place best build

Thank you to all our Scouts, families, and volunteers for making this event a success. This is what Cub Scouting is about, learning, doing your best, and having fun together.
Yours in Scouting,

Scaled Average MPH vs. Actual Average MPH
The Scaled Average MPH is a fun comparison number. The timing system takes how fast the Pinewood Derby car traveled down the track and “scales it up” to show what that speed would be if the car were the size of a real automobile. That’s why you’ll see very large numbers, sometimes over 200 MPH. No Pinewood car is actually moving that fast. This number is meant to be exciting and easy to compare, not physically literal.
The Actual Average MPH is the real speed of the car on the track. It is calculated using the actual track length and the actual time it took the car to reach the finish line. On a 42-foot track, Pinewood Derby cars usually travel between about 6 and 10 miles per hour. This number reflects the true motion of the car during the race.
Think of it like this:
Scaled MPH answers, “How fast would this be if the car were full-size?”
Actual MPH answers, “How fast did the car really go on the track?”
Both numbers are correct, they just tell different stories. The scaled speed adds excitement and makes comparisons fun, while the actual speed shows the real, physical performance of the car.
