Running a dynamic, active Scouting program takes resources. Campsite reservations, pinewood derby cars, badges and awards, meeting materials, and group equipment all add up quickly.
To keep Scouting affordable and accessible for every family, Pack 970 participates in two key fundraising initiatives each program year. These campaigns help offset general unit expenses and provide Scouts with the opportunity to fund their own Scouting experience through personal effort and service.
Supporting Our Pack Program & Keeping Annual Dues LowÂ
Selling popcorn is a classic Scouting tradition that teaches valuable life skillsâincluding goal setting, financial literacy, customer service, and public speaking.
Where the Funds Go: Proceeds from our Trailâs End Popcorn sales directly support Pack 970 general operating expenses.
How It Helps You: High participation in our popcorn campaign allows the Pack to subsidize campouts, fund advancement awards, and keep overall family dues as low as possible.
Ways to Participate:
Storefront Show & Sells: Sign up for Pack storefront shifts to sell alongside fellow Scouts in the community.
Online Sales: Set up your Scoutâs profile through the Trail's End app to collect orders from friends and family nationwide.
Wagon Sales / Take Orders: Walk the neighborhood with order forms to take direct orders from neighbors.
Earn 100% of Your Scoutâs Dues!
Our Acts of Kindness fundraiser puts Scouting values into direct action. Scouts collect pledges and donations from supporters as they complete meaningful service projects and acts of kindness in their neighborhoods, schools, and homes.
Where the Funds Go:
Individual Dues Offset: Donations raised by your Scout apply directly to offset your familyâs annual Pack dues.
Earn Your Own Way: With active participation, your Scout can earn up to 100% of their annual dues in lieu of paying out of pocket.
Arrow of Light (AOL) Summer Camp Credit: For our 5th-grade Arrow of Light Scouts preparing to bridge into a Scouts BSA Troop, AOK funds raised beyond their Pack dues can be credited toward their first week of Scouts BSA Summer Camp with their Troop (typically around $450).
Scout Account Carryover: Any funds raised beyond the current yearâs dues (or dues + summer camp target for AOLs) will remain in your Scoutâs individual Scout Account and roll over to cover future Scouting years, registration, or eligible unit activities!Â
Scout Account Rules:
Scouting Purposes Only: Account balances may only be applied directly toward official Scouting expenses (future Pack dues, official Scouting America camp registrations, and approved unit events).
No Cash Value: Funds cannot be cashed out, refunded, or paid out as personal reimbursements for unauthorized purchases. All external spending must be pre-authorized. You must contact our Committee Chair BEFORE purchasing something that you would like to get reimbursed for.Â
Ways to Participate:
Create your Scoutâs personal donation page once the annual campaign opens.
Have your Scout brainstorm acts of service, share their goal with friends and family, and log their completed projects.
Can our family participate in both fundraisers?
Yes! We encourage every family to take part in both. The Acts of Kindness campaign helps cover your Scoutâs individual dues and camp goals directly, while the Popcorn fundraiser ensures the Pack has the shared funds necessary to deliver a top-tier Scouting program all year long.
How does the Summer Camp earning work for Arrow of Light Scouts?
Because 5th-grade Scouts cross over to a Scouts BSA Troop in the spring, their fundraising needs grow! Once an AOL Scout's annual Pack dues are fully covered, additional funds raised through the Acts of Kindness campaign can be applied toward their registration costs for their troop's first summer resident camp.
What happens if a Scout raises more than this yearâs dues?
Any surplus remains credited to your Scoutâs individual account and rolls over into the next Scouting year to help offset future annual dues and official campouts.
Can unused Scout Account funds be refunded in cash?
No. In compliance with non-profit fundraising regulations and unit policies, all funds raised have no cash value and cannot be disbursed as cash payouts or personal reimbursements. They are strictly held to pay for verified Scouting America and Pack 970 activities.
Who do I contact with questions about fundraising?
